Three soloists from the Eastlake High School mixed show choir, Center Stage, won awards at the thirty-first annual Fullerton Jazz Festival held April 4 at Fullerton College. Show choirs, jazz ensembles and soloists competed in various categories against schools from all over the country. Rebecca Joyce Pulido, Danielle Bristow, and Lindsey Sullivan placed first, third and fifth in their competition groups.

In the Vocal Solo Show-B category, Rebecca Joyce Pulido placed first singing Cole Porter’s “So in Love” from Kiss Me Kate, Leonard Bernstein’s “I Feel Pretty” from West Side Story, and Stephen Sondheim’s “Being Alive” from Company. In the Vocal Solo Jazz-A category, Danielle Bristow placed third singing “Lullaby of Birdland,” “Cry Me a River,” and “They Can’t Take That Away from Me.” Also in the Vocal Solo Jazz-A category Lindsey Sullivan placed fifth with a repertoire of “It’s Alright with Me,” “Spring will be a Little Late this Year,” and How Dare You.”

The public is invited to come see them perform at their annual “On Stage with Center Stage” concert May 14 at 6:30 PM in the Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center on the campus of Eastlake High School. That concert will feature their solos as well as other solos, duets, small groups, their student band, and the show choir’s competition set and repertoire. All three choirs at Eastlake, the Titan Concert Choir, the women’s show choir Spotlight Ladies, and Center Stage will also be presenting their Spring Pops Concert on June 11. Tickets will be on sale at the door for both events.
