EastLake Continues to Carry Educational Torch for Youth, Donates Computer Lab to Olympic View Elementary

EASTLAKE, Calif. – The EastLake Educational Foundation (EEF) today announced the donation of the state-of-the-art Olympic View Elementary computer lab, an interactive facility that will help students hurdle their national peers in the race for computer literacy gold.

The donation was formally made at the lab’s grand opening at Olympic View, an event which involved a student performance and facility tour for the entire student body, parent/teacher club associates as well as board members of the EEF.

In total, 14 new large-screen computers and assorted technical hardware were given to the school, all of which will help teach both on- and offline computer skills to children in Olympic View’s K-6 levels. The cost of the new lab’s equipment adds up to more than $24,000.

“This donation reflects our goal to make EastLake a place of growth – for all residents,” said EastLake Educational Foundation President Bill Ostrem. “New technology drives education, and the foundation will continue its commitment to give area students the best hi-tech tools and instruction available.”

Established in 1995, the EEF has directed its funds toward technology support by providing computer hardware and staff training to all three public schools in EastLake. In addition, EEF has helped build a dual school/community observatory at EastLake High School.

The EEF is a community-based non-profit foundation that draws its financial support primarily through the commitment of local businesses and individuals. Annual fundraising activities include a golf tournament, Cycle EastLake – a recreational bicycle tour – as well as a variety of events involving the greater EastLake community.
