Creekside Park, the heart of EastLake Trailsfeaturing an old-California style hacienda clubhouse, outdoor entertaining area, two pools and a two-acre lake ringed with walking trailshas received rave reviews from the residents. With spectacular views of foothills, the Salt Creek corridor and a wetlands preserve, the facility has already become the hub of neighborhood activities. Cycle EastLake 2000! on May 21 will launch summer fun, following the EastLake Trails grand opening on April 15. Other festivities to come are EastLake Little League games, a Fourth of July fireworks celebration, concerts in the park and plenty of block parties, according to Bill Ostrem, president and CEO of EastLake. The new Arroyo Vista Elementary, located in EastLake Trails, will open for the school year in July, said Ostrem. EastLake schools promote educational excellence with the best of facilities and staff. Modeled after the success of other elementary schools in the EastLake community and the Chula Vista School District, Arroyo Vista will bring a hands-on approach to learning. The school was resized to meet reduced class-size guidelines while accommodating a 750-student capacity. Our partnerships with the City of Chula Vista and the YMCA create a school with special facilities for in-school and after-school programs for shared use in the community, said Dr. Lowell Billings, Chula Vista School District assistant superintendent for business. One of these facilities is a multi-purpose gymnasium that allows indoor games such as basketball, volleyball, jump rope and other activities. There is also a regulation-size baseball field, for Little League play completed with sun shelters for student and spectator safety. A day care facility, licensed and run by the YMCA, for before- and after-school care will provide activities for students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Located within walking distance of the school is Sagewood by Cornerstone Communities, with three model homes recently opened.
