Summertime in EastLake Means Concerts, Fireworks and Sports EASTLAKE, Calif. EastLake has been beating the heat of summer with a variety of refreshing activities, ranging from open-air concerts to day camps. EastLake families invite the public to join them for the fifth year of EastLakes Summer Sounds concert series. Upcoming performances feature the Latin rhythms of Power Play on Saturday, July 29, and 70s and 80s tunes of Groove Therapy, Saturday, Aug. 26. Each concert starts at 4 p.m. at Chula Vista Community Park at 1060 EastLake Parkway. Fireworks were a hit at the July 4th celebration, the 14th annual held for EastLake residents. With music, games, good food and great neighbors, the event provided an even bigger bang than last years. In the Olympic spirit, EastLake played a major part in making the softball field at the U.S. Olympic Training Center a reality by financing phase I of its development. The field was recently dedicated with Mayor Shirley Horton joining in the activities, cutting the ceremonial ribbon and throwing the first pitch. Kids in EastLake are getting their kicks this summer with a variety of sporting and craft activities at day camps sponsored by the Homeowners Associations. Youngsters can enjoy making sandcastles at Beach Camp, creating an item for home at Arts & Crafts, or smashing forehands in tennis and swimming laps at Smash & Splash. Adults are getting their share of fun and fitness in organized classes of water aerobics, cardio-kickboxing and yoga, also coordinated through the Homeowners Associations. The summers not over, but EastLake kids are switching gears by starting their year round school year in July. Arroyo Vista Elementary School opens its doors in EastLake Trails July 18th becoming EastLakes fourth school. While great activities are certainly reasons to be in EastLake in the summer, residents enjoy the community and its beautiful homes all year long. Sales are booming throughout EastLake Trails. Bridlewood has sold out, and only a few homes remain in Hillgate (starting in the mid $200,000s with up to 1,892 square feet) and Woodcreek (mid $200,000s and 2,395 square feet), all by Kaufman & Broad. Other homes still available for caring owners, include Monterey Ridge (from the mid $200,000s and up to 2,872 square feet) and Monterey Point (starting in the high $200,000s with up to 2,944 square feet) by Fieldstone Communities; the upscale enclave of Sagewood (low $300,000s and 3,415 square feet) by Cornerstone Communities; and the luxurious Creekside Estates by Continental Homes (starting in the low $400,000s with up to 3,741 square feet). At the heart of EastLake Trails is the five-acre Creekside Park, a hacienda-style clubhouse with both indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, two pools and a two-acre lake ringed with walking trails. Located east of Hunte Parkway between Otay Lakes Road and Olympic Parkway, EastLake Trails will cover 323 acres, with 1,143 homes. A City of Chula Vista community park will also be included in the neighborhood.
