In a local newspaper poll respondents listed EastLake’s established neighborhoods and community spirit as reasons why this South County community is a top spot to live.

“EastLake has friendly, liveable neighborhoods,” says Bill Ostrem, president and CEO of The EastLake Company, developer of the 3,200-acre master-planned community. “EastLake residents show a lot of pride and boast of the great schools, recreational amenities, shops and services that are right in their backyards.”

Celebrating its 15th year of residential development, EastLake now has more than 13,000 residents, four schools, nine neighborhood parks and a Chula Vista Community Park. There also are swimming pools and recreation centers, lakes, miles of trails and an 18-hole championship golf course.

When it all began in 1986, EastLake was the first master-planned development south of Interstate 8. Today it has four distinct residential neighborhoods, and also is home to corporate, retail and commercial businesses, and the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

EastLake is the top seller of new homes in eastern Chula Vista, according to recent reports from residential developers along the Telegraph Canyon corridor east of Interstate 805. The 610 new home sales last year at EastLake outpaced other new home communities in the area by as much as 20 percent.

Now selling in the EastLake Trails neighborhood are new homes by Continental, Cornerstone Communities, Fieldstone Communities, KB Home and Shea Homes. The 1,143 residential units comprising the current phase of the EastLake Trails neighborhood include single-family detached and attached homes, priced from the high $100,000s to the low $400,000s.

Last spring, The San Diego Union-Tribune asked its readers to vote for the best San Diego County has to offer, from services and entertainment to sports and shopping. Thousands of readers responded and the results were recently announced. In addition to this year’s honor, EastLake also was voted Best New Home Community in 1997, 1998,1999 and 2000.
